I am an artist driven by the transformative power of art in photography. My journey began in my teens, initially captivated by technical mastery, but it quickly evolved into a pursuit of creative expression through traditional landscape and subsequently intentional camera movement (ICM) sometimes combined with multiple in camera exposures (ICM/ME) and with mixed media by combing with cyanotypes. I value the essence of photography as a means to distill ideas, thoughts, and emotions into compelling visual stories, as Edward Steichen emphasized. Although I still pursue traditional landscape work, ICM, which I discovered by accident, has become my preferred language of expression, allowing me to explore the fluidity of form, light, and motion beyond conventional rules. Guided by mentors, publications like ICM Magazine, and vibrant online communities, I embrace the freedom to break away from formulaic approaches, seeking originality and emotional resonance in each image. Inspired by quotes and works from Robert Adams, Minor White, Claud Monet, and Ansel Adams, I believe that true artistry lies in departure from reality, forging new visions that reflect my inner world. Through my work, I aim to evoke mood, pattern, and nuance—creating images that are not merely representational but expressions of my feelings and experiences at the moment of capture, many time abstract in nature. For me, ICM/ME and mixed media are a path to liberation and creative discovery, allowing me to give form to the intangible and to continually challenge myself in pursuit of authentic artistic expression.
